Diversity, Resilience, and Hope for the Future
Ecological restoration can feel both incredibly rewarding and hopeless at the same time. Despite the amazing work we’re all doing, it can feel like challenges are mounting faster than we can respond. Don’t despair! There are plenty of reasons for optimism, despite what you might see, read, or obsess about when you wake up in the middle of the night. The biggest reason for hope is the resilience of the ecosystems we’re working with. While we’ve lost much, we should celebrate what we still have, along with the way species and natural communities persist, and even thrive, under variable and difficult conditions. The road ahead isn’t easy, but there’s still a road there. Most importantly, just as we are solving challenges our predecessors found impossible, those who come after us will find solutions we can’tyet imagine. Through photographs and stories, Chris will celebrate the ecosystems we’re working to conserve and restore and show you why the work we do matters.
