Sarah Beier

Sarah Beier grew up exploring plants and their attendant wildlife in the wooded plains of Northeastern Kansas. She spent her earliest years in a small cabin outside Topeka, where she formed an affinity for trail walking and bug catching. She earned her B.Sc. in Wildlife Biology from Missouri State University in 2006, and has been engaged in the worlds of science and education ever since.

In 2016 she found herself serving as Jill-of-all-trades for Kansas City Native Plant Initiative, now known as Deep Roots. After 5 wonderful years with the native plant nonprofit, she opened Oak & iO, serving the Kansas City area as a native landscape designer and consultant.

She lives in Kansas City with her wife and their two kids. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, travel, thrifting, and serves as a Missouri Master Naturalist volunteer.
