Biography

Presenting: Green Infrastructure Maintenance: Lessons Learned from the Fassnight Creek Restoration Project at the Springfield Art Museum

Nick Nelson has served as the director of the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri since 2012.  He manages all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the museum, from public programs to personnel.  Under his leadership, the Springfield Art Museum has reached record attendance, achieved a long-standing goal of accreditation with the American Alliance of Museums, and most recently launched a visionary Site Plan for the future of its facility and grounds.  Prior to moving to Springfield, Nick served as executive director of the Albany Museum of Art in Albany, Georgia, where he also served as curator of education.  He has over 25 years of experience working in the arts as an educator, administrator, and artist.  He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Georgia Southwestern State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Georgia Southern University.
