Biography

Nadia Navarrete-Tindall, Ph.D. Native Plants Specialist, 20 plus years’ experience with native plants in Missouri. At present, she is an Extension Associate Professor and runs the Specialty Crops Program at Lincoln University of Missouri. She is a Grow Native! Advisor. In 2008 she received Missouri’s highest conservation honor as she was inducted into the Conservation Hall of Fame as a Master Conservationist.


In 2012, she established the FINCA project (Families, Integrating Nature, Conservation and Agriculture) with federal funding in various locations in Missouri to promote native plants as specialty crops. This model is being adopted in the Bootheel, Kansas City and in Columbia, MO. She and collaborators organize popular events like Dining Wild, which introduces people to native plants in conservation and for their value-added potential, especially food. She offers training in English and Spanish and writes for various local venues. In 2021, she launched the Native Plant Academy with funding from the Missouri Department of Conservation in collaboration with Grow Native, Deep Roots and other institutions.
