Gathering, Growing and Cooking with Native Edibles
Nadia will share information on a few native edible plants easily grown in gardens and as specialty crops farms in Missouri. Some edible native fruits, including acorns and flowers will be discussed to demonstrate harvest and uses in recipes. In addition, she will introduce the FINCA EcoFarm, which is a demonstration farm located at Lincoln University campus where several of these species have been grown and maintained since 2010. Many of these native edibles are used as ingredients for food tasting in Dining Wild events. The class will also include a discussion of foraging ethics and plant identification.
